Pooch. The LED u used, how many volts was it? What is the best LED for this project (like how many volts) and where can I get it?Also, u live in NYC?

I think that depends on the level of the science fair. What grade are you in? The beauty of this project though is that there's a lot of detail that you can go into and the project works with quite a few different types of fruits and vegetables. You could do an analysis of the different results with different cells. (Potato, Strawberry, Orange, Tomato, etc.)

ooo, Thanks Pooch, I have a science fair coming, do you think this lemon experiment will be enough or is it too easy and common?

PoochWed Nov 01, 2006 8:37 am
Well, I suppose it depends on what kind of load you put on it. I left the 3 cell rig going overnight and the LED was still glowing in the morning, but definitely more dimly. Ultimately the copper and zinc electrodes will completely desolve inside the lemon, but I'm not sure how long that would actually take.
